Anybody have any great ideas on how to get the old carpet glue off the floor ? I just got the old carpet off and there is a lot of glue to get rid of .A paint scraper will take forever .

The way I did mine was with a heat gun and a 12" scraper.
It was a slow process but I got it done in a day.

Good luck.

I guess a better question would be : do I need to get all the old glue up , I'm just going to reglue and add new carpet ? I've scraped as much as I can , what is left seems to be solid .

I had to do some glass work on the floor, that's why I spent the extra time removing the glue. Otherwise I would have quickly scraped the old glue and then install the new carpet.

3M has an adhesive remover that works very well - give that a try - should be able to get it at a NAPA or other auto parts store

Not an EPA approved removal but a gole ole 87 octane gasoline soaked rag and a scraper is the best way to remove the glue from a floor. Just make sure youre not smoking when you do it or you will be smokin when youre done!! Check out this months Hot Boat Magazine either the jet boat tech or v-drive tech section, same question asked. Give it a try it really does work better than strippers.
