Loose engine hatch bracket

253 with electric engine hatch. One of my engine hatch brackets is loose in the lid. Can I use some kind of epoxy into it then screw it back in or does the whole lid have to come off? Remove pad and replace with new wood..lots of work and money???
I would like to try least expensive way first. Thanks..........Alex
