:thumb: Ok after trying a spedzone 14 3/4 x23p prop and losing my valued holeshot i went with a 13 3/4 x25p lighspeed from quiksilver. I like everyone else am timid to try new things. I talked to BOATMAN for days about this prop as well as local and other prob shops and got the same answer from everyone, the LIGHTSPEED is identical to the LASER II minus the mercury engraving. The props are built at the same time to the same specs. The whole reason they made the lightspeed is that unauthorised mercury dealers are able to sell them as well becouse they dont technically carry the mercury name on them. What ive lerned through this is that the starflight hull seems to respond better to smaller diameter props not the larger tempest/speedzone props. I was origanaly told by gary that my boat would drive bettter with 2 more inches making it have a total of 12" of set back, and thats exactly what i need i believe i will be ble to hit 72gps mph with a little more set back(10" seems to not be enuff). Once the additional set back is on i will raise the motor possibley another 1/2". My rpm has gone down 4-500, wich is exaclty where the yamaha likes to be, once again i cant say enuff about GARY(Boatman) and his continous help through the whole process. :cheers Aaron

Very interesting. I put a factory 23" Laser II on my Pulsare/Promax, and it ran like crap. The 23" Tempest carried my bow a lot better than the smaller blade Laser II.
Just goes to show you, every hull and every prop combo is different! One big difference could be my 225 Promax actually made closer to 240 horse at 6400 rpms, and your Yam is probably 40 horse less at your rpms. Maybe that's the difference.

Every boat is unique, and what works on one may not work on another... add that to different set-backs and motor heights and you have a LOT of variables in the mix. My experience with the Merc Laser II has be good on most boats that are light (long-decks or closed bows)... Sometimes the Merc Tempest's extra "lift" isn't needed... one interesting note, for the ONE time I ran my 92 Starflight with the stock 200XRi, it did 70mph (on the speedo) with a 25p Tempest Plus and the SAME with a 25p Laser II... there was NO speed difference. The Laser II is a great prop for lighter hulls or smaller boats!
CONGRATS on BREAKING THAT 70MPH MARK:banana:

I did notice that the bow doesnt seem to be riding quite as dry as it should. So i gave gary a call and now have 2 inches more setback on its way that should help. For the setup the lightspeed seems to give the best of both worlds acceleration and top speed.
