I have a 2100 Pulsare BR. It's powered by a 225 EFI. It has a hydraulic jack plate. I'd like to increase the setback. I think it has the stock 5 1/2" setback. Where's a good place to get the parts I need. Is there an internet location ? or can I get the parts at a metal fabricating business. Will increasing setback have any negative effects on boat performance ?(skiing, tubing, handling etc.)

Thanks in advance !

You can get 2" setback spacers from Bobs machine shop.www.bobsmachine.com there are others such as rex marine that carry them also. I would go with something made for the application versus getting something fabbed at a shop. I have added 2" spacers to mine and the boat carries much better at 3000rpm and above and the water breakes from under the boat much farther back. When you add the spacers you will also need to go to the upper mounting holes on your motor. By adding those extra couple of inches on the back allows you to lift her up.:) I have noticed no ill effects on tubing skiing etc. just a much better top end speed:banana: .

costa,

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I'm looking for. This is my first outboard so I've got a lot to learn. Now where's the best location of jack plate for top speed ? I have water pickups on the nose of drive as well as the mid section. Should I raise jackplate to just shy of loosing water pressure ? Is this where optimum speed would be reached ? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm learning be patient.:bounce:

Jack her up Sky High!! lol The higher you get the motor = less drag = more speed.:bigthumb: I have best luck raising the jack completely then use the trim to lift the bow and begin gaining speed. You should not loose water pressure with low water pickups and especially with the additional 2" spacers but do watch your pressure you dont want to smoke the motor.:pissed:

I went from 5.5" of setback on my Pulsare/225 up to 10" with no ill effects ski/tube/etc. Use your water pressure gauge and a good GPS to adjust the jack plate up or down to find the 'sweet' spot for best top speed.

You don't even need a hydraulic jack plate! I played around with mine and found that a 10" cmc manual jack plate with a set of Bob's 2" spacer's with everything raised to the max works great! Depending on which prop you use, the hole shot is good and the top end is great! I run a little heavy on pitch so my hole shot is a little slow, but I never pull any one on ski's, so I go for the top end number's I have a 2100 closed bow with a 225efi. I run 74+ on gps at 1652ft above sea level. At lower elevations it will run 4 to 6 mph faster. Also I can get you the parts you need for a good price. The Bob's spacers are $59+shipping. Having trouble with the company who provided my web-site. They decided to change there format without telling me and now, none of my pages will open on it. If any of you guys need any thing, feel free to call me any time. 304-619-5185. Or let me know on here. As for those prop covers, I haven't seen those yet. boatman
