I have a 4.3L mercruiser and the temp gage does not work, it stays all the way down to the low temp side. I have 12v at the + side of the gage, the sensor has 1.4 Ohms static and slowly decreases to 1.1 Ohms when I warm it in my hand. Any one have the testing specs for the sensor or gage, my maintenance manual does not give the specs.

Thanks,

Fran

I don't know what the specs are for that sensor. I doubt that you will find the spec either. The easiest way to check the guage is to take the wire off the sender on the engine and ground it. The guage should swing to full hot. If it does the guage and wiring are not the problem. The most likely culprit would be the sender. If it doesn't move, then check the wiring going to the guage. The easiest way is to ground the wire on the sender, then check for the ground signal at the back of the guage. If the ground is not there, then the wiring is at fault. If there is a ground signal, the replace the guage.

Thanks for the help,
I t/s it to the thermostat, it was stuck open so it never had a chance to heat up.
