View Full Version : MX 15 prop
What is the trick prop for these inlines?
Was a chopper any good with an inline on an MX15? I did not see what was used in the 1970 MX 15 article. Checkmate told me to run a jackplate also and some setback would help.

I disagree with using setback on this hull. With a 135 Merc and 135 lower unit, I would run it on the transom with around a 24 pitch chopper.Did you find a lower unit for your 135 yet?
it is a 20" lower
I will have to run a jackplate

setback is good for the mx-15. my buddy has one with 6'' setback, propshaft even with pad and running a 75 mariner with a 21 laser II. the 75 pushes the boat to 50-53gps

The 1970 Mx 15 did not have a pad from the factory. Back in the 70's when these boats were being raced they would run in the 60's with no problem with a 75 omc or a 80-85 Merc bolted to the transom. The 1970 Mx was a light boat. If set up right and kept fairly light, Your 135 should push the boat into the 70's. Just my 2 cents worth.

What model is the gearcasae off of? There are different gear ratios in the in line gearcases. That will make a difference in your prop choice.
That makes it a 2:1
Did you see my post about the 2 bladers on ebay?
After I get the setup, I need to reconfigure the interior. Debating on center steer, or keep it side steer. I have another ride guide rack system-single cable. Non tilt-Interested?

No thanks. I use the dual cable set up on all my boats. I did use the helm I got from you in my MX16 . It will be done this weekend. I will post pics. The interior looks nice. I an hoping for around 70 with it.
I am gonna try it tonight and see how it does and then I can go from there. I am still gonna get the 2 blade 26 for looks. The 20P 2 blade went cheap, but I have the 2:1 case. I ran a 17P last night and was revvin too high, but the motor ran superb...went home and dialed in the timing adjustments and carbs again
