Motor Fins

I just got a 1973 MX-13 with a 1973 Johnson 65hp motor. The motor runs great, though the idle needs to be adjusted.

In any event, I have seen the fins that mount to the bottom of the motor, like a big wing. How useful are those?? Is it worth the money?? What is thier real purpose.

they help you plane off a little easier and sometimes will help with a little porposing at slow speeds. They won't hurt your boat any if ya put em on

The wide fins that look like wings can also cause serious handling issues. I don't recommend them. Better to use good electric trim tabs than the 'wings'..................
