I'm turning the 25 High Five to 5800, will a Tempest Plus spin slower plus gain speed?

This is a good question. The High Five has a diameter of 13 3/4" where the Tempest has a diameter of 14 5/8".A smaller diameter will spin more rpms than a larger one but, with more blade surface(5 blades vs. three) it may negate that increase in rpms. I hope some one with real world numbers can validate some numbers. I'm interested in going to a four blade Trophy Plus.

P.S. I'll bet the Tempest Plus 25 will drop your rpms 100-200 rpms and gain some speed but you won't have the holeshot of the High Five.

I'd like to know as well. The 4 blade I have now does not impress me!

It does not say anthing stamped into it, but does have a sticker that says
Turbo 2+2. apparently it is a 24 pitch.

Any help would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a 23p Tempest Plus about a month ago. I was running a 23p High five before that. I didn't lose any RPM's. I am right at 5800. I really like the new prop. The hole shot is a little worse, but is not bad at all. I thought it would be alot worse so I was surprised. I gained about 4 mph with the new prop and it handles great at all speeds. I think it was definitely worth the money, I found it on the web for $385. Maybe you guys can help me with a question. My motor is mounted on the middle hole right now.
I have 3 more holes that I could raise the motor up to and it would raise it about 2 inches. Currently the center of the shaft is 7" below my pad when even. If I raised the motor would this help me with speed? Handling isn't an issue, just looking to gain some speed without putting on a jackplate.

Raising the motor will help with speed, especially since its 7" below the pad. I would put it one hole from the top, just watch water pressure, and it might start to chine walk when you lift it. You can easily cure that with a jack plate, which are pretty simple to install.

I just reread this I must have been half in the bag,
lift the motor, just watch your pressure gauge and you should see more speed and RPM...
