Well I had a bad day on the river this weekend. I was out skiing and my prop fell off into the river. I was worried about the way that it was secured on there with just th lock nut and the little tabs to hold it in place. I have been unable to find it yet. So my question is Which prop should I get to put back on. I had a SS 3 blade and it seemed to be pretty good for my boat. Not sure the pitch though. I want to say it was a 20 or 21. I have a 1982 25' convincor with a stock 454. I am pretty sure it is not a mag or anything special. I was running around 4300 rpm and about 47 -50 mph depending on the day and load. So any help would be awesome. Or if anyone knows someone looking to get rid of a prop that might work for me.
Thanks,
Siddhi

Hi I have a 1989 25' Convincor w/ 454. When the engine was stock I ran a 23 pitch Mirage. It ran about 52 mph at 4500 rpm. I swapped that for a 23 Hydromotive and went 55 mph at 4250 rpm. If I were you I would try finding a 23 pitch Tempest or a Hydromotive. The regular Tempest seem to do better than the Tempest Plus props. The Tempest line of props have vent holes in the base that you may want to plug. ( they sell plastic plugs just for this). It just depends on the boat weather or not you'll need to plug the little holes.

Thanks Bigsbetter! I thought for some reason I had a 21# on there before but I cannot remember if I ever really looked at it or not. But it does answer my question. I have a 19# and pretty much that one will not work at all. So thanks for the input.
Adios,

Thanks for the info. I believe I did have a 21 on mine. Do you know what diameter I will need? I see 14" 14.5" I am not sure what I can use.

Ebay is in my opinion the best place to buy used props. I've bought so many trying to find the best one or two. When I finally find the best ones I sell the rest of them back on Ebay. Most of the time I break even. Sometimes I make a few more bucks. Sometimes you may loose a few bucks. But it's definitley worth a few MPH!
