I traded that in on an 05 DRZ-400SM Supermoto bike - most fun you can have on two wheels:devil::devil:

Hey Storz,

How did you like the SV650? I dont have a bike right now but am trying to convince my wife to let me get one. I was thinking about a cruiser but I have some friends with sportbikes. I like the looks of the SV650. Would it make a good first bike?

The SV is a great bike! It was my first bike and its awesome because it can be almost anything you want it to be, in stock for the S model is quit sporty and has pretty 'racy' ergos and the naked model has a comfortable upright riding position, wrapped around the same frame as the S model...I modified mine with aftermarket (lower) clip ons and higher rearsets, and a bunch of aftermarket stuff to make it handle better. The power on the bike is also very good, its a 650cc V-twin so it has really good low end torque which equates to smooth usable power. I looked at a TON of bikes before I went with the SV, it wasnt until I rode supermoto at a demo day that I ever even thought about trading the SV in....supermoto is that addictive, however the SM bike is not as good as an everyday street bike as the SV was. Still handles like a dream tho:devil::devil:

Let me know if you would like to see more pics of the SV, I have tons

PS - I'd love to see some pics of your Predictor, I am planning on buying one next spring

Yeah a bunch of my buddies ride down at Grattan and Gingerman with track prepared SVs, if I had kept mine I was going to start riding it at the track. I actually fitted Honda RC51 bodywork on it right before I got rid of it.

I was with out a bike for 3 years. Got the twitch real bad this spring. Had started out on a cruiser years ago. The wife likes the back rest. Went to a sport bike and loved it. The wife on the other hand did not, no backrest. So when it came time to get back into riding I got a sport bike and she got a sport bike. Now I can;t get her off of it.
Mine is a 99 Zx-7r. Yosh pipe and went -1 in front and +2 in the rear.
Hers is a 03 250 ninja, bone stock was to quiet, so on went the full Muzzy exhaust. Much better now. She wants a bigger bike. MORE POWER.

Awesome! I wish I could get my fiance into biking, she has no desire to ride. I really dig the ZX7R, when I was looking for a sportbike last year it wast the only 4 cyl bike I looked at, I've heard they are just rock solid, good handling and very predictable. Great looking bikes :)

Well, I went down the street to the Suzuki dealer yesterday afternoon (Probably shouldnt have). They had a beautiful SV650 in bright red. After sitting on the sv650, the sv650s, and a GSX750, I think the 650 would be great for me. I like the upright riding position, and I think the naked look is cool. I honestly cant believe that I am looking at sport bikes. I always wanted a crusier, but the 650 is kind of an in between bike. It has the sportbike look, and from what the dealer to me it is more comfortable on longer rides than an all out sportbike. Besides the SV is cheaper thanall the cruisers I have looked at.

Now the hard part. Convincing my wife that I should get one. She does not have a problem with me having a bike. She just thinks that I am going to want to spend all my time riding instead of with her and the baby. She loves the boat because thats something we can all do together, but there is no room for a carseat on a motorcycle. Plus she would rather spend the money on a vacation.

Gus, how did you get your wife interested in bikes?

Man I like this bike!!

You can't go wrong on the 650. Great bike.
How did the wife get interested. Not real sure on that one. She had been riding on the back for years. I just it was the just the right time for her. I am just glad she was digging the sport bikes. She has already looked at bigger ones. The ZZR600 is what she wants next.

Storz, thanks. The 7r is the most rock solid, unshakable bike I have ever ridden. I have not been able to disrupt the chassis no mater what I have try-ed or what the road surface is. Great bike.

You will LOVE the SV, if you havent yet check out www.svrider.com (http://www.svrider.com) and tell em Storz sent ya ;)

My fiance just knew that I was really into bikes and its just something I do, she is cool with it. I would definitly get a 2nd helmet and set of gear for your wife to ride with you, t will get her involved and she'll see how much fun it is and will eventually understand why you wanted a bike in the first place. If you have any questions about SVs dont hesitate to contact me, I was pretty into the whole scene before I got the motard.

Some more pics of my SV because I am a photo whore :)

Here are a few pics of past/current bikes. I own an '01 R6 and an '04 R1 right now.

My '00 GSX-R750, bought it as a wreck, rebuilt it, learned a few tricks, sold it.

Hey 175, thanks for the great compliment. Not only do you have a good taste in boats but in motorcycles too. Still have it? I'd love to see some pics. I absolutely love riding mine, and those cobra pipes were really an improvement over the stock ones.

I had the magna for a year and got offered more $$ for it than I payed for it.
Always wanted to put pipes on it, just did not have it long enough. I will have to look around to see if I have any pictures.

I've been riding for about 30 years. We rode Goldwings for 25 years and decided to try something different. Bought a new VTX1800 in '04 and rode it for 2 years. This February I saw my first Harley Street Glide and had to have it, first Harley I actually liked. I now have about 6,000 miles on it and still love it. Also My wife rides a VW trike and my daughter has a 750 Shadow. I'm truely blessed to have a wife and daughter that enjoys the same things I do. Sorry to say that this year we have neglected the Checkmate and rode the bike most of the Summer. Maybe next year. Herb

I bet it works just a little better than my old 1970?????????? something Suzuki 80 cc dirt bike. When we got it 2 years ago it was a toss up if the engine would blow up or the front wheel would fall off first.

Kewl 175 Checkmate not many women on bikes but there seem to be more each year.
I enjoy riding with my wife she has been riding for 6 years now she moved up to the Harley in the picture last year. The Valkyrie in the picture is my current bike. I've been riding on the street since 1982 too many bikes to list

She gets lots of looks when shes out on it she is only 120lbs but she can sure ride it well.

Speaking of bikes time to put them away and get the snowmobiles out.

I had a Buell up until I had to sell it for a down payment money on my house but I recently picked up an old 1981 Yamaha 400 special for $400. I love it, it runs a handles better then my 2002 Buell did.

My wife finally agreed, so I'm buying a New Harley Street Bob. If someone would buy my Checkmate I could get it quicker, but I'll have one soon either way even if I have to sell my sperm. A Street Bob comes in Flat Black with the mini ape hangers (other colors too, but I like the flat black). Harleys are now 96 ci, FI, 110hp/92 lb-ft torque. That outta do something.
