supergenius, thats the way i need to be running for the most part to achieve the highest speeds. Not sure if thats exactly right but when its up like it is in the pics it handles the best, you can literally feel it loosen up. Another thing ive been amazed by now is how much easier with seat time its is to drive , the only thing holding ya back from having a cold beverage at these speeds is you need to keep 2 hands on the wheel . The chine walking is preety much a thing of the past with how its set up now. I may be trying a trophy plus soon. Aaron

That's awesome man,
Mine is scary at 65+, the more i trim up the more it chine walks and its all i can do to keep it strait with one hand on the wheel and one on the throttle. If i keep the trim level it will max out at about 62, with a little trim and just a little chine it will hit 65, but at 70 with a lot of trim it scares the heck out of me so I don't usually do that. I think i would be better off with a 3.0L engine and the prop much deeper in the water, also a tempest style rather than my chopper style prop. How much HP does your engine have? mine makes 240hp at 7000-7500 RPM. -shane

The set up in these pics is a 12" vance mfg jackplate set at 2" below the v, a 25 laser II/lightspeed spinning at 5900rpms, we are at sea level here. I have all bow foam removed as well as cieling carpet and side carpet removed and replace with grey paint.Im running a 1987 yamaha excel with 240hp.
Ive tried a 23 tempest plus as well as 25 tempest. I think the trick set up for this is going to be a 24 tempest plus. As far as the props ive tested nothing has matched this lightspeed in topspeed numbers. Id like to try a trophy as well. I got to think that you may be over looking something simple you should be right neer where im at,how deep you have your motor? How farya have it set back? What prop and pitch? I saw you removed your bow foam , i think removing the pad in the front if ya have it, all the carpet on the sides and the cieling(leave the floor carpet) and replacing it with a marine paint really helped it may be only 10 - 20 pounds of carpet but its exactly where ya want to save weight, I also have no carpet in the ski locker I painted that as well. Mke sure ya use a decent marine paint , it doesnt need to be fuel proof though(i got mine at home depot)Any more queston ill gladly try to help ya out on. :thumb: Aaron

Seriously that boat looks real nice.
It looks like a sleek superboat. I wonder how they compare in rough water though.
get some still shots. The starflite is always a crowd favorite
