i found a 26 bravo but never had a chance to run it. would like to see what rpm i get out of that first....maybe in the spring!!
how much do you need to get out of this prop?

I'm currently running a 26 bravo 1 4blade at about 4500 rpm @ 68-69 mph in a 251 Convincor. The rpms are right where I want them. a 28 Hydro drops the rpm to 4250. I'd like to try that 26 Hydro. What are the diameters of the 2 props? Will the Hydro for sure drop the rpms with the same pitch? I thought the Bravo 1 was a half inch bigger in diameter.?

didnt know you were looking for one i have a like new one you can try this spring if you want
i had it on my 242 and turned 4700 rpm in the summer and hit the rev limiter with it in the spring and fall
so i went with a labbed 28 and got 4mph more out of it and doesnt hit the limiter

I'd like to get $450 for it. I bought it from Teague for $495 plus tax and shipping. Used it once. FYI, hydros come with no hub insert....
To answer your questions, Bravos are approximately 1.5" less in pitch than advertized....Hydros are closer to the advertized pitch. The 26 hydro I have, runs close to the same rpms as my 28 Bravo. I lied in my previous post, what I ment to say is that a 26 bravo runs approx 200rpms less then a 26 hydro....sorry.

craig, i have always had the opposite because of the pitch difference in the props, more pitch....typically....equals less rpm.
mboger, if that was for me....thanks. i already bought one though. glad to hear your running good with the 28. i think i could use a couple more rpm though. we'll see. i do know where theres a 28 hydro, brand new, only a few hours on it, didnt work for the guy and isnt gonna work for me. i think he wants to get 500 out of it.

give bblades a call in wisconsin a call he is a good guy and worked for mercury racing props for years and has his own shop now
just give him all your numbers and he can get you dialed in on just how you want it
how much hp are you digging now and what outdrive do you have on it now

not sure on the hp...positively. but i was at 558hp on the dyno before the procharger so, i think im around 650-700 i would guess. im gonna do a cam change and tune it and run it on a dyno over the winter months. or just in the spring. i have bought a hub from bblades earlier this year. good guy for sure. not sure on what he does to props though.
i have a 26 now and its looking to be close to 70 deg on wed, may have to hit the water to try it!!
how bout you? anything new up your sleeve?

im in the process of either getting a 502 short block and starting from there not sure how much i will build it up yet or getting a bigger boat just depends on the winter with work a little slow right now
you must have a shortie and 1/36 gears to only be turning a 26
bret at bblades picked me up from 67 to 71 on gps just with a prop
prop and lapped was 850.00 not bad money for that kind of pick up in speed
it also put my cruisin higher to save a little gas

no shortie, no 1/36.
stock bravo 1.5:1
the difference is your turning your 4700 and im spinning mine to 5800-6000
thats a huge difference when it comes to props.
the cool thing is that the props i can still run are common props!!
mboger,
you want to sell your 26? i can probably sell it if its in like new shape. of course, the right $$ too.
let me know,
kevin
