Took out all of soaked floatation foam, anyone know where to purchase this stuff. Can I buy it pre-cut to my hull shape, or do I have to shape it myself?

It's probably a two part pour-in foam that expands as it dries. West Marine probably sells it. Try a Google search for closed cell foam. A better question is, do you really need to replace it? Sometimes foam is used as extra structural support, sometimes only as floatation. It will eventually get wet again, and slow your boat down.

Why should it get wet again? And yes, i need it to be replaced. I put my finger in it.....water gushes out.

The foam will eventually get wet again just like it got wet in the first place. You cannot keep it from happening.
And by replaced, what I mean is: Do you need to RE-PLACE it. In other words, do you need the foam where it's located? Is the foam just for floatation, or is it in an area where the foam is used as structural support? If the foam is in the bow area, most people remove it and NOT re-place it. If the foam is under the floor, and your flooring and stringers are inadequate, then the foam is part of the structure and needs to be re-installed.

I had this wet mush stuff called foam. It did not go back in. The way it was layed in there I came to 2 conclusions. 1, there was not enough there to float the boat. 2, I made everthing alot stronger, so there was no need to put the foam back in.

Finally found it. Here's where my buddy bought all the two-part pourable closed cell foam for his Penn Yann that he's rebuilding:

Good luck! Any questions about this stuff, as me and I'll ask him

Most Fiberglass supply stores cary the foam you need (it is a 2 part liquid) and once you mix the 2 parts you only have a few minuts before it starts to expand, and be carefull I have seen people blow the floor out of a boat by pouring to much foam at one time. Good Luck

It's Always Better In A MATE !

the foam is put in the boats as a part of NMMA requirements.....we have to put it in on some baots....as fara as around the gas tank it aint baout stringers ot nothing but as a support for the tank.....if the boat is built with the proper drain holes it should never get wet in the gas tank cafity...mite wanna check your tank....if ya dont wanna put foam back in there then support the tank with somethin else and it will be fine....good luck

What is meant by "proper drain holes" Flash? Putting foam in this weekend, need it to be minimum of 70 degrees for full cure. I just finished transom and stringer, and glassed all in, the next step is the floor.

play 2 win ... i would think flash means that anywhere you add or reinstall foam that you don't create a spot where you trap water or cause an obstruction in the normal drainage of the boat . i would expect that there is a drainage route under the floor to the bilge drain.
