John pulled the floor out yesterday and threw away almost 200 pounds of wet foam.

Here is why the floor was so easy to remove, it had these handy metal tabs holding it in.

What is that grey line around the perimeter? did you guys glass the top of the floor or just the edges? thanks

cooperider

The dark grey is where the filler is, to smooth the transition from floor to the bottom of the boat.

You learn something new every day...:cheers

What did you use to seal the wood?

He used a nice layer of resin.

floor looks good, did you bother with marine grade plywood, or did you just coa tit with resin?

cooperider

I'll have to ask John, but I'm guessing it was not marine plywood.

Do you have to take the deck off to put a new floor in? I have heard that sometimes the hull and deck don't fit as well after a new floor is put in? Does the hull have a tendancy to shift without the deck attached? Should you brace the hull during this process?

It didn't have to come off, when I got it, it was already off. From when the guy removed the transom. Everything seems to slip right back into place on this boat.

Good job on the resto John!
This boat looks pretty mint now.:thumb: How do you like the 90 merc? I had an 80 merc a wile back that did okay with a light load, about 40-45 i'm guessing, but it rode much better and was much more nimble than when I put the v6 on it. Now I have a 90 OMC hanging off the back. Sometimes having a smaller motor can be alot more fun. I love how easily it can jump wakes without having a 350lb motor on the back:bounce:  :rof:
