I recently aquired a 1977 Checkmate convincer that I have no manual for. I would like to know what engines are/were correct for this boat. It has a Chevy 350 small block in it, and it turns heads on the lake. I need to replace the carb. and what to make sure I place the correct one on.
any info would be great.

Generally they came with a Rochester Quadrajet Four barrel. All the quadrajets I've had have always performed well. Some people can't stand them. One thing for sure is that it HAS to be a marine version. Holley and I believe Carter makes them too. A 650 cfm would be the basic size to go with, unless you have a built engine. Then a 750 cfm would be a possible choice.
