is there a way too see if you have a private topic? when you are in the main screen i mean?

Nope.

At least not with this current version.

However, you can set up the board to notify you by email when you get a private message. That's how I have my settings set. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
