As many of you are probably aware, there have been rumours floating around over the last few months, about the possibility of a change in the majority ownership structure of Checkmate Boats Inc.
And as the old adage goes, sometimes where there's smoke, there's often fire.
Kip Combs confirmed to us, that there are indeed ongoing negotiations which if successful, would change the majority ownership structure of the company. According to Kip, a deal has not been finalized yet, but the expectation of the parties involved seems to be that one will be completed in the next few weeks if all goes well.
The new ownership will be headed by Doug Smith, who was previously one of the owners of Baja.
Kip has also confirmed that his brother Mike and himself will stay on in their current roles with Checkmate under Doug's leadership.
Kip has promised to report back to us when something is concrete, and when he does, we'll let you know.
Here is a link to Kip's post confirming the news. :)
