I know a few that would be interested from the Fargo area. A loosely organized poker run would be fun.

Hey!! Its good to hear from another local checkmate owner, Im from moorhead, I have been talking with a couple other people about this and I would really like to get something going. I should have my boat back together in mid to late july. What do you have for a boat and where do you normally run? I have a 94 pulse 185 with a 175efi merc and have a place on west battle lake. By the way, welcome to the board. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/welcome.gif

Thanks for the welcome! I have a 97 219 Persuader with a 454. I usually go to Pelican Lake, but willing to go anywhere for a get together of checkmates. A friend of mine who is also from the area has a 175 Pulse and I know he would be interested in a meet sometime mid august. Lets set aside a weekend and make it happen!
quote:
Originally posted by pulse185:

http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gifSounds great! We, pulse185 and I are working on it. Most likely on Otter Tail Lake. If there is a date that works best for you please let us know. We are looking at either the 7-8 or the 21-22 of Aug. I would be coming the Friday before so I could have the whole weekend. I think it would be about a 5 hr. drive for me. I'm having DAH do some work on a prop for me and hope to have it back before I go, otherwise its my slow ski prop for the weekend unless I can beg, barrow or steal one. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

07-29-2004, 08:19 PM
this is c-mate-280 from prior lake Mn and I would love to come but I have business in oconomowoc wisconsin that weekend. I have been having some problems with my motor on the pulse 185. Merc gave me a new power head ( on the 280 hp ) after a ring retainer broke just hours after a complete rebuild . But now I am haaving problems with the efi It's running way too rich but i think the problem is minor. Its at supreme marine and they have been real good about taking care of my problems. Sorry I will miss the gathering but maybe another time. have fun and take care, chuck aka (c-mate-280)

http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifSounds great! I will post some information on other places available to stay in the area on monday am. If you are looking to camp, there are some available campsites at Sunset Beach Resort and campground on west battle lake, that is where jkieper is going to stay, I guess he will be up friday the 20 of august, I will be at my place on west battle friday evening. Sunset Beach is a nice, family operated resort and campground, very nice people. We will find a place to meet and decide if we should stay on west battle or go to ottertail, its only 8 miles from west battle and they have a zorbas!I will let you know what is available on monday. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

The 175 Pulse guy is in for sure too. How many other boats will be there? The more the merrier!! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
We are trying to get things set up to stay at ottertail lake so that would be cool if you guys are going to be there too. I think they have a zorbaz there to don't they? If all goes well we would come down either fri nite or sat morning and stay over sat nite. We found one place on ottertail that has 1 cabin left and they supposedly have a harbor there too for boats, I don't know how many though?

Hey everybody! This past weekend I went and checked out all the area boat ramps for our get together this weekend, this is what I found. The ramps on ottertail are all pretty low now the best one would be the landing on hwy 78 just south of the city of ottertail, that landing has lots of public beach and a couple of picnic shelters. Both the landings on West Battle are ok, the one in the city of Battle Lake has a public swimming beach, a park, bathrooms, picnic shelters, horse shoes, volleyball, softball diamonds, grilles, pretty nice place, I dont know how many of you have or will be bringing kids with. I was thinking we could start out on ottertail, hit the zorbas, and then head to west battle, let me know what you all think and we will set up a time and place to meet. Looking forward to seeing all of you! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gifJeff

Hey aal of you comming to the Mn. gathering, I think the place to meet would be the public access on ottertail lake. The access is on hwy 78 just south of the city of ottertail. We should plan on meeting there at noon, depending on wind direction we may want to actually launch somewhere else, but this is a good access. Checkmate of Fargo is bringing at least 3 boats (sounds like a couple of '05 mates). I visited with him last night and he is pretty pumped about this and is looking forward to it also. Any way we will meet at ottettail landing 12:00 sat. aug. 21, stay on ottertail for a couple hours, probobly hit the zorbas, the head to west battle for a while. Any body needing more info. can e-mail me at jsg4202@aol.com and I will give you a couple of phone numbers to reach me at. Looking forward to the weekend. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gifjeff

Pulse:
How long does it take you to get to the Twin Cities?
Jim

Jim: From my house in Moorhead (right on the dakota, mn. border) it takes about 3 1/2 hrs to get to the cities. For a good route go to mapquest.com and search for Battle Lake. I have some friends that live 2 doors east of me at the lake that drive up every weekend from New Richmond, wi. and they say it takes about 3 hrs. I hope everything is still a go. If you want, you can reach me during the day at 701-371-2211. The weekend sounds like its going to be good. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif

How did they weekend go? I'm up in Winnipeg but I might join you next year. I've got two Mates - 16.5' Diplomat and a 21' Starliner. I have a cabin on Lake of the Woods. Best boating on the planet. Lots of Minnesotans come to fish and explore this paradise.

I actually looked at your boat before you sold it to fnshrmaster, you were about to sell it to me then I found the pulse 185 that I really wanted. If you are looking for another mate there is now a dealer in Fargo, call Dave at 277-9612 he would be happy to sell you one in stock or find what you are looking for. We will have another get together next summer, maybe two times. I will post when and where next summer. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
quote:
Originally posted by ndmate:
