Hey guys, looking to pick the boat up for a 45 minute trip home from the marina to do some tlc. Does anyone know the trailer and boat weight of an 87 starflite with a 200 merc? I have a light suv (2004 Lexus RX330) and it has a max tow rate of 2500 pounds. Weak I know but thank god I trailer the boat once a year instead of all year. Just trying to make sure I don't overload the tranny. Thanks.

I have an 86 Starflite witha 200 merc. The boat weighs approx 1400-1500 lbs. and the motor is about 450. Total is about 200lbs. I think you should be OK.

Make that 2000lbs. not 200.

Add the trailer and you're over

Do you have brakes on the trailer (and SUV)?

Aren't you on the coast - like Wilmington or something? If so, and it's as flat as it is here, you'd probably be fine. If your SUV is rated to tow 2500 lbs through the mountains or where ever you happen to be, you should be fine on flat ground with a little over the max weight. Just drive carefully.

If you were a little closer, I'd come haul it for you.

Yes I lived in Wilmnigton but moved inland to Matthews, NC and the boat is now where it belongs, Lake Norman. It's still flat here and so I should be ok. I am 43 miles away from the marina. I haven't been on this site in a while because I have been to busy with the projects on the new house. Now that I am done, its time to take care of the boat and enjoy it. Thank god I paid more money to keep it stored inside so it won't be much work. Thanks for the offer to help tow the boat. You are a good guy. So what do you think the weight total would be? 2600 pounds?

So you need to move it from Lake Norman to Matthews? I'll be at the Speedway next Friday - Sunday for the Spring Autofair. We could probably meet up and tow it with my truck.

Thanks but I won't be able to do it as my son has his first t-ball game that weekend. I have access to a Ford Expedition that I will use to tow it with. Enjoy Lowes motor speedway. What's going on that weekend?

Is the autofair opened all weekend? What's the deal with that? Is it all years of cars? Might want to try to go to that Sunday afternoon if I have time.

It's everything you could imagine in American Car stuff. You can walk for 2 days and not cover everything. The entire infield is full of flea market/swap meet and some cars, the track is nearly full of show cars and there are two fields outside of the speedway packed full of flea market/swap meet. The only problem is, I think it's winding down by Sunday. I know we always pack up and leave Saturday night. This year will actually be the first time I've ever been around on Sunday.

Looks like we are going to have a rainy weekend for the auto show. That sucks. Hopefully it will hold off till Monday. Never seems to work that way.
