Wow, this could be a long one. A 2 stroke operates off of a vaccume/pressure system.
Fuel and oil are mixed. This is what lubricates the engine. This mix is running all over the place.
When the piston is on the down stroke a vaccume is created. Fuel and air mixture is drawn in to the cylinder. This mix is then compressed and when the sparkplug fires, you have the power stroke. The piston is pushed down untill the exhaust ports are uncovered. Once uncovered the exhauset leaves the chamber Because its under pressure it leaves real quick. The piston continues down to uncover the intake port. Fuel/oil are drawn into the cylinder and the process is repeated.
The carbs/jets control how much fuel is drawn in to the crankcase at any one time, the fuel flows past the reads. The reads are like a checkvale in that the will not allow the air and fuel back out throught the carbs.
There is a bunch going on but this is the general idea.
