I am going to mount a pair of 6 X 9 speakers under the dash of my 2001 Pulse 185. I plan on mounting one on the passenger side and one on the driver’s side on the outside walls. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Thanks

If space is a problem, (no where to mount them in something) you could always buy 6x9 speaker boxs. This would make mounting them a bit easyer.

Drex,

Have you checked out where the factory mounts the speakers if you get the optional front speakers?

I think they usually mount them under the dash and into the square supports that are usually under there. I was thinking of mounting a set in mine in that spot.

I would definately check with Kip or Mike and see if there is anything structurally that you would have to worry about attempting to put them there. Or if there are any wiring harnesses or whatever contained in them.

If you get a definitive answer, let me know will ya! I might just attempt to install some there myself. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifI was thinking of mounting them there also on my 2003 pulse 185. I would like to put two more 6" speakers in the front one on each side of the compartment door. Let us know what they say at Checkmate.

I will try and call Mike either today or tomorrow. I'll let you know what he says.

Thanks for the response!

I spoke with Mike at the factory and he assured me there is nothing structurally or electrically to worry about in or behind the kick panels under the dash. He said the factory installs speakers there if the boat is ordered with 4 speakers. He also said there should be a lockable lid on top of the boxed kick panels for storage?? I’m pretty sure my 185 does not have this, and if it did it would be very hard to access. Does anyone else have this storage space???
