i read that c hawk had a problem in late model trailers , where they used the wrong axels ( for surge brakes ) where there were a couple holes drilled in them at the 3;00 and 9:00 positions . trapping water and rusting ...... if you have one , you might want to check it out

Were did you see this info?
I have a 2003 C-hawk
Bob,
I highly recommend C-Hawk trailers. The owners, Carol and Otis are super nice people. They build a sharp looking, well built trailer for the price. Also, their trailers are custom fit for your Cmate model.
In fact, I called to talk to Otis today. I wanted to see if they could install the new LED brake and running lights on my new trailer.
Chris is going to post a series of pictutres of CHwk building my new 2100 trailer sometime in the future.

PS- I'm not saying you shouldn't check out your trailer if you own a CHawk, but they didn't have a "problem". I talked to Otis about the holes, and it was a one time thing.

Otis helped me out a couple of times. I figured he would let owners know if there was a problem so to speak. But I'm always willing to listen if there is proof.

wasn't trying to badmouth anyone or insinuate that they wern't good people , but even the best of companies sometime let a few imperfect ones get out there some times . if i bought a whatever from whoever and something was brewing inside , i would like a heads up so that i could address the problem while it was a small problem . kinda like these hp 500's out there . with the valve train problems that everyone except me knew about . if anyone is interested in my source ..... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/showthread/t-23740.html

Guys this should be a dead issue.......Otie told me yesterday that there were only a few axles that went out with these 2 small holes that were used to rivet a plate on the axle.....they are now and sense then welded on. All that had to happen was to silicone the 2 small holes shut so water would not get in. C-Hawk builds a great trailer and i would recommend one to anyone. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
