Well I finally got the motor installed to the point I could hit the ignition. Has a pretty good sound.

Here is a link for 1.9 meg - 10 second video of boat idling on the trailer.
http://www.wallysprecisioninc.com/video/Enforcer24idle.mpg

If the weather holds she will get wet this weekend (maybe lake anna wickedrister) - have to see if the old Ford will make it that far since the boat is too heavy for it.

Lake Anna or bust! Like I said we will be at Lake Anna Lodge, sometimes called the block house on friday and saturday night. We hope to be on the water 90% of the time. We plan on spending most of our time at Jack's place. That's gioing to be the number one hang out as far as we know. Look around the lodge parking lot for the nissan frontier with the SML SUPER JETS decal on the back glass. It will be the frontier that is pulling a 1971 Carlson CV19SS big block jet that is way to heavy for the truck LOL LOL. Engine sound SWEET! Come on!!!

:sssh: uh <<<- thats me wondering why i would be looking for a truck if you are gonna be on the water 90% of the time - that thing float too. roflmbo

(attempt at humor - applause please)

thank you, thank you. he he.

slightly mod 350 - est 300 hp. engine will sound different (better i hope) after break in, still burning oil til the rings seat.

bored .030 over to 355ci - mild bullet racing cam .458 lift - flat top pistons with valve reliefs. should be around 10-1 compression. hardened valves with oversized stems and rotating valve locks (each time the valve opens/closes it is rotated some). stock performance high rise intake and quad carb re-jeted. wanted headers but all i could find were out of reach $$$ so i went stock this go round.

next is to find the right prop. gotta see the numbers after break-in first though. i think it will handle going from 21 mirage to 23 something - if i get lucky it may handle 25 but i have doubts on that.

I thought it was a 350. I had a killer 355 in my old 79 camaro. The cam made it sound so nice. dont remember the size but it was huge! That motor was insane!! I always wanted to have a smallblock chevy I/O:bigthumb:

It would be nice to hear a sound clip at wfo later this summer.

you made me want to get a video of mine!!
Just happened to be at home this afternoon, so I grabbed the camera, and head out side. got a decent tape, but cannot get it off the camera.:brickwall:

My oldest son used the same camera to make mini movies with and edited them on his comp so I know it is possible.

I used to think I was the smart one in the family:eyecrazy:

mine has a usb cable - it used to auto start when i plugged it in with the camera on so try that, now i have to manually start the software first.

21p SS Mirage - local prop guy said it had been worked down probably 2 times and should be replaced (for better dar) at some point to get top speed. hope to do so this summer once the engine is broken in so i know the final power band and if i can step up to a 23/25.

once she is broken in i am going to attempt a "fly" by video but at the least there will be a high speed pass (hope for 60-65). last time (first time also lol) i hit the wave oncoming and it felt like a 35mph car crash. my buddy ended up with a hand held gps antenna up his butt because it landed in the seat just before he did.

wife is out of town and i promised to wait for her for the first dunking, she should be home tomorrow evening. calling for rain friday and maybe sat so keep your fingers crossed for me...

 TOMORROW for the first run.

this one has usb and firewire and a/v ports. I can get to the saved stills, but video did not save to card only to tape(jvc digital metal tapes).
I have a worked 350 in my diplomat(read 17') and we are running a 4 blade Mach magnum Sterndriver 22p x 14.5 for skiing. turning 5700 at wfo, need more pitch for top end, but dont want to spend the money.......

i do not have that type, mine is regular hi-8 video cam. the cable sends a video stream to the computer. i can even bypass the tape and bring up the live feed from the camera on the computer as i am recording to have a large monitor.

thinking about what rpm to spin mine up too. i trust the builder, they balance the rotating assembly well. with no load sitting on the loading platform we ran it up to almost 5000 so i am thinking a little over the 4800 original setup would be ok under load. did not have them build it to handle wot of almost 6k but i will have to ask them about that. i think it would do 5500 for short times but dont think it would wise for mine.

I think merc frowns on the drive going over 5200 to keep speed at propshaft below 3500 rpm
we only go over 5000 for short bursts to show off
are u running 1.5 or 1.36 to 1 ratio?

Dave you have to record it on yoyr memory card that way it is already in the format it needs to be in to play on a computer, If you don't do it that way you would have to convert it!

Eagle I also run a mirage 21 ss it is the best option for my set up.

drive is 1.47 to 1

for me to play it easily on a computer i must convert mine with an outside software. i.e. that 1.87 meg .mpg file was a conversion from the original 37 meg .avi file format.

may not get wet this weekend. every time i am about to take the baby out it poops its diaper. the steering is frozen and trim not working properly and alarm system is causing interference and temp gauge not reading - replaced temp sensor but still not working.

trying to loosen cable on steering, disco'd alarm for now (causes oil pressure unit to read 100% of scale), have trim sensors to replace old ones. dont know if i can get it done before the weekend is out.

:bounce: got the steering freed up, removed the rack & pinion and cable from boat. disassembled, took drill to cable and used pb blast rust remover. drilled it back and forth for about an hour and it now feels like new. (oh yeah - and put it back in, assembled of course).

:sssh: think i have the trim working properly now.

:eyecrazy: alarm will be another day - lol.

:brickwall: temp gauge has f'd me up. im pst. removed old gauge, cut out plug since new one has bolts. wired in and now ALL GAUGES are not working. posted for help in another forum.

 thanks for the cudos on the sound everyone!!

got wet (twice) put the boat in and 30 seconds later it showered for about 1/4 mile then stopped.

anyway - got her wet!!!

short video - about 1 meg - 5 seconds. basic straight running on the James River out of hopewell VA. nothing fancy, just water but i said i would post it.

http://www.wallysprecisioninc.com/images/_webmaster/07061101.mpg

running about 50, engine is pinging at mid-range rpms. has old gas in it so i have to drain it out, if it continues builder said i would need to adj the timing.

also, will not get into the high rpm range. this run at 50 was around 35-3600 rpm. hoping i can get it up to the 4800 without ping. that should put me in the low 60's i would think.

prop calc suggested max 62 mph.

numbers i entered were:

racing hull (limited options) next option is high speed runabout (55 mph w/19p prop) and i am already there running low rpms.

19 foot at water line (estimated)
3800#
300 hp
1.47 ratio
15.25 prop dia
4800 rpm

it kicked back:
21.84 pitch for that speed
15.43 diameter
9% slip
