I just bought a boat from Arizona and am now titling it in Ohio. I am trying to get plates on the trailer, but Arizona's trailer titles have the full (with boat)weight on them. Ohio needs the empty weight. I don't want to go throught the hassle of launching the boat, tying it up somewhere then going to weigh the empty trailer.

Does anybody know where I can get a manufacturers slip for a 21ft Baker sport tunnel hull and trailer? The trailer looks like it is a baker as well. Is Baker still in business (looked and didn't see anything)? Does anyone have a similar boat/trailer with a slip?

Any assistance is very appreciated thanks!

You might just give them an estimate of the "actual" weight. For example: my single-axle C-Hawk lists as 660# ship weight with a GVWR of 2085#. This may be somewhat useful for you (for example).

They said they needed proof with an actual weight slip either from a scale or a manufacterers plate

Sounds like Ohio is a bit anal about it... check and see if they would accept this example... my truck/boat/trailer weight is 9320# - my truck is 4360# which means my boat/trailer = 4960 I also know I have 280# on the tongue for a total of 5240# - my boat dry weight is listed as 3400# in the brochure, add a few hundred for gas, oil and misc water - I would say 3700# -

so 5240-3700=1540# of trailer weight. this is for a 24' i/o with dual axel and brakes. galvanized steel roller bed e-z loader brand - all mfg info has faded and worn off.

I did not have to take the boat off but did have to unhook it from the truck. They may allow you to briefly disconnect and reconnect the trailer on the scale with the truck off the scale to get just the boat/trailer total weight... depends on how busy they are.

I had to get 3 measures to do the above calculations. total package weight, just truck to get boat/trailer less tongue weight, boat or tow vehicle on scale and other off to get tongue weight.

I just checked our title and it has 0000 for empty and 4000 for full (LOL), thats a bit off i would say and something i should check on since it may be the wrong trailer for the boat.

when i bought my trailer, the guy had no ownership - just went to the licence office and had it registered as a homebuilt - in and out in 5 minutes! guess ontario is a little lax in how they do things!
