Well, 7 months later (over 320+ hours of labor restoring my mate, and now when I'm ready to put back together, it wont fit. I finally got it to fit lengthwise, but the sides are pretty screwed up after sitting so long. You figur ethat the bottom half would sag out, but no, its the top the overhangs by like an inch!! over the sides. Really preplexed with this one. I have clamps and straps everywhere. Cant really figure out how to stretch the inside out. I have come to far, any suggestions out that in the land of Checkmate?

is it an inch all the way around or just in the middle? you could rig up a couple bottle jacks on their side and spread the hull. good luck

If you have access to a bodymans porta-power kit they have spredder bars that are hydrolic. Same Idea as Matt's but less hassle.

I had sort of the same problem when I put the lid back on my tri-mate. There was not a unifrom gap all the way around but there where some gaps. I used my teenage son as the muscle to push the bottom hull out while I pulled it together with rivits.
