Hey all, new to the club and really enjoy all that I have read!!! I have a question for all...just purchased a 219 persuader 1994 with omc 460. Is this a good engine? Should I watch for any problems. Thanks for all your input.

I just looked at that 94 on Traderonline. Nice boat. I have a 91 Persuader w/ 502. I'm trying to sell. Good luck with the 460.

Welcome to the board Dennis.
When a boat is running it's great, when they're not, they're a piece of crap.

OMC drives are not that bad. They can last, providing you respect them. They will not and can not take the abuse that a Bravo drive can. By this I mean, take it easy getting on plane, back off on the stick when you launch over a wave, and easy on re-entering the water. You know that OMC is out of business. The down side to this is going to be the long term availability of O.E.M. parts. However, there are a few aftermarket companies who carry repair parts for that power package. Here is one that I have used before with success. http://www.basicpower.com/ The other down side is that 460 Ford motor. It is a decent motor, but if you are planning on modifying it for additional power, you will find that parts are not as easy to find and are more expensive. If you do manage to increase the power, your drive will KABOOM. Just keep the thing stock and run it. You will most likely get years of good trouble free use out of it.
