They race boats that were bought right out of the showroom one boat only classes. You can run 150 on a 21ft fibreglass hull 50-60mph or a 225 on a 27ft Kevlar/Carbon/Glass hull 70+mph. This is supposed to be a class where anybody can by a boat and race, it seems to be quite popular. No mods to motors the are stock with a warranty.

Who'd a thought a stock 225 4-stroke would run 70+ on a 27 foor hull that weighs 2400 pounds

It looks like they're gonna start racing cats soon also.

why is it that none of these flip over?
i wonder if they have some sort of balast weight in the keel of the hull..

They have a water ballast tank molded into the boat it can pick up water by pulling a lever and dump with a electric dump pump. 15Gallon cap.

Those things are expensive too...at least $60000 for a complete turn key USED package. $80k to $90k for a new one. But anyone who has the cash can buy one oout of the show room and race it since its completely stock. That kevlar/carbon/glass hull is sure impressive though. With the speeds and punishment they are putting those things through.
