The motor just looks like a 350 but I noticed a Corvette logo/emblem on the valve cover. Can anyone tell me any info on this or did he maybe just put some vette valve covers on it? Claims it runs 60 GPS with a 23p ss prop.

Next.....

When your cruising down the river and you hit a speed bump?? = broken gimble ring and bent propshaft. (boat ran fine all the way back. didnt notice the damage till i got her home) It has an alpha lower unit. Since I have to take everything off pretty much should I upgrade my lower unit? Or just rebuild the alpha when I put the new propshaft in it? Anyone know where I can get a deal on a gimble ring?

The mate let me down on Saturday, was out for a late night cruise and a few wobbly pops with a some friends and had to call my wife at 2 am to come get us with the tooner :o

When I hit the trim one time the stereo shut down but then it seemed fine, I made the mistake of shutting it off and it wouldn't start, I left it on the charger over night and the new battery that I put in a few months ago didn't take a charge, then I thought the battery must have been a dud and stole the battery out of the tooner, we drove around for a few hours the next day and then I noticed that every time I hit the trim the tach would go to 8 grand so I figured something was wrong and headed for the cabin, shut it off and sure enough it wouldn't start.

I don't have a clue where to start, This is my first EFI and I thought that if it wasn't charging the EFI would quit running but it runs fine on a dead battery????

Of course it has ran great all year and the one year warranty I got when I bought it expired about a week ago:brickwall:

Any help greatly appreciated

New guy here from the Buckeye state!! Although 99.9% of all my boating is done on Lake Cumberland in KY. Thus far its all been either on my RXP Sea Doo or in the old man's Baja. But I have decided its time for me to get something of my own. And as long as I can remember there hasn't been a whole lot on the water that excites me more than a screaming outboard!! Growing up on the Ohio River all my dad's friends had Checkmates and I have always wanted one. So I came here to look for one or at least try to learn more about them so I know what I need to look for. Well, I'm off to lurk around and try to learn myself!! Have fun out there, be safe on the water, and hopefully before too long there will be a checkmate tearing up and down the Big South Fork River on Cumberland!!!

So here's a poll to play with!

History: I found a used mint Pulsare 2100BR several years ago for $14k, enjoyed it for 2 years then sold it (mint) to another happy owner.

Present: I've kept my eyes open for another mint 2100BR in the $14k to $18k range, and THEY DON'T EXIST ANYMORE :yell:

Here's another option for about the same money:

Keep my wife's 2002 Four Winns Horizon 170 OB as the family water sports boat, and add a 'me' boat to my collection for the speed thrills. Here's a pic of what I have now (and would sell to upgrade to a nice 2100BR), and a few pix of what I could add to satisfy my need for speed:

Family get wet and not care tubing boat:

and the need for speed just for me boat:

HELP ME DECIDE

Most times when I hit the key it will just spin, not enough speed to run the gear up the bendix, or if it does its turns the motor real
s l o w. But the motor fires up on half a turn so I have waited till the end of the season to do something with it. ( A few time I have had to engage the gear by hand then hit the key. I don't recommend doing that, but it works if the motor fires up easily. Watch your fingers!!)
SO... what I am thinking is the brushes need to be replace or the contact cleaned.
Anyone done this before? I can't find the brush kit for this particular starter (its actuily from a v-135 I picked up with a window in the block) and my old V-225 starter desn't even show anythig avalible for parts.
It dosen't look too complicated I'm looking for a little experienced advice.
Thanks!!
