Default 90s 21 Pulsare speed

I found a 93 21 Pulsare open bow with a blown motor. I have a 2.5 200hp sitting around that I could put on it, but would the boat be a total slug? Iooked online and seen most run 65mph with the motor bolted to the transom. If I set up with a nice 10-12" hydrolic jack plate could I squeeze 70 out of it?

If I were to repower with a 300x. What do you think I could expect for speed? Mid 80s? I'm excited to possibly get back into a checkmate.

Thanks for the help

I think you are in the ballpark, but a properly set up.300x is going to get you into the 90s. Providing that the hull is still in great shape, not waterlogged.

I don't think you will hit 70 in a pulsare br with a 200 hp motor, but you'll be 65+ with a dry hull.

So I looked up on NAdA and it looks like in93 they made a 21 Pulse BR but not a pulsare. The pulse was 1750lbs and I am guessing it the same hull and performance of a pulsare.

No Pulsare in 93, maybe a few early ones popped out of the mold, SCT would know. A Pulse is deeper, the weight you mentioned sounds right. Pulsares are in the 1300-1400lb range. Big difference in performance as far as speed. You'll probably never see 80's in a 21 Pulse even with a 300x....But it will be nice running combo.

First year for the Pulsare 2100 is 1994. Pulsare weight is 1375 lbs. Different boat than the Pulse and much faster. A Merc 200 should yield 65mph. You really need a 3.0L motor for the extra torque and speed. A Merc 225, 12-14" of setback and a Trophy Plus 26 will put you at 75mph Plus.

Slightly different hull, but the 88 Starliner I had ran 77MPH with a 250 ProXs.

A 2.5 200 is great on a 21 Pulsare, the closed bow would be slightly faster. Expect 68-69 MPH. Sounds like you're talking about a Pulse though, very different, heavier deeper hull. The Pulsare has a pad bottom and is reasonably light. Starflites, Starliners don't and don't run as fast.
