Default Glastron Carlson Transoms

Pretty new here, and in fact bought my first Checkmate; 83 Predictor
with a 175Hp Merc

The question i'm looking for an answer here for is, are Glastron-Carlson's known to have weak transoms?

I have a chance to purchase a 1983 G/C CVX-17, with a 115Hp Merc.
This boat is in pretty decent shape and i wanted to know if it could possibly handle the V6 175 I have? I seem to recall mention that they may be prone to weak transoms but curious if that is the opinion when thinking of going over the max rated Hp, or regardless?

I love the Carlson’s, but I’ve witnessed what you’ve heard about. Like any wood transom boat, the transom is going bad some day, but the Glastron sport boats I’ve looked at seem to go bad a little quicker than others. Carlsons are worth saving!
