Default 2008 ZT-230

Stock 496 Mag HO and Bravo1 outdrive. Approximately 140 hours. Imco dual hydraulic steering. Lenco electric tabs. Corsa selectable exhaust. 3 props. Cockpit cover. Boat cover. Steel trailer. Well maintained, carefully operated and stored out of the water. Fresh water only.
I've owned the boat for about 5 years. I am the second owner. The boat had 50 hours on it when I bought it from a Ford dealer in Blue Ridge Georgia. The boat languished at a couple of dealers during the "great recession" before I got it.
I use the boat at Lake Martin, Alabama. When I bought it, 28 mph was required to stay on plane. Lake Martin can get choppy on the weekend. Trim tabs were installed and the boat can now "plane" at 20 mph depending upon load. The boat also chine walked on me above 65 mph, depending on water conditions and trim. My shop recommended the hydraulic steering if for nothing else, safety, and to limit slop in the stock steering. Checkmate agreed. The boat will still chine walk if over-trimmed, in my hands, with a 4 blade prop, depending on environmental conditions. I enjoy speed, but I don't operate the boat fast as lake conditions and traffic usually don't safely permit it on the weekend. I don't have much seat time at speed in it. I did make contact with the original owner(great guy) who made some recommendations on operating it at speed. I just don't get to the lake frequently enough to practice his technique. I wouldn't recommend that the boat be bought by one who won't take the time to learn how to operate it properly. At the risk of stating the obvious, it demands your full attention at speed, which is what makes it special.
It's a reliable, quick, nice sounding and good looking boat. That motor wasn't offered in this model very long.
$39k
Thanks for looking.

dbate73n@bellsouth.net is the best way to contact me and even then it may take me a day to reply to you. Will upload some cellphone pictures to the Checkmate server when we figure it out or I'll email them to you. White boat with blue/yellow/black accents.

I am the original owner of this boat. Another one I wish I still had. Hydraulic steering was always something I wanted to put on it for increased safety. That being said, this boat can be driven WOT with or without tabs and external steering without chine walk. Takes some practice. When I had it, it ran close to 80mph and was just like driving a fast outboard, it can be balanced on the pad just like a Pulsare.....I've had quite a few different 496HO's and always felt that one was the strongest running.

This is an excellent boat so those who are interested, don't let the speed it's capable of deter you. 230's can be a challenge to get a grasp on at high speeds.

Good luck with the sale.

-Craig

Pretty sure I was the first ZT230 owner to swap out to the 496HO. When I did it I installed full hydraulic steering and there was virtually no chine walk right up the WOT. Like Craig, I guess I also subconsciously learned to balance it up on the pad pretty easily. My everday top speeds were about 72 mph gps, as mine as mine was a BR with the extra bow weight, and was a grrrreat boat. If I ever went back to a 230, I'd likely put at least 600 hp into her just for the acceleration blasts. Full hydraulic steering though. Good luck with your sale!

If I remember correctly, you had to modify your back seat and/or engine hatch didn't you? I ordered mine with the big block, and by then Checkmate had made changes to the seat and hatch for when a big block was put in and also the X-dimension slightly.
