Model Owned: 1978 Checkmate 16' Predictor

Default Hi Y'All From NC

My husband and I are the proud (?) new owners of a '78 Predictor with an '87 Johnson 110 V4 OB. The boat is something of a disaster as it had been sitting in someone's back yard (uncovered) for years. We got it at an auction and I think it was part of an estate sale.

It doesn't look like there's any gelcoat left on it and the floor and stringers have turned into mulch. The hull seems to be sound, though we haven't looked at the transom too closely yet, and the motor is surprisingly clean.

Eventually we hope to be running it around the Albemarle Sound here in northeast NC.

Welcome to the forum, sounds like a big project. Can be rewarding or overwhelming, I hope the former for you.

Welcome! I'm one sound down from you. Also putting a floor in my Predictor.

Hi all— I am new to forum— originally from eastern NC as well, but live in SE Michigan. Anyway, I have a 2018 2000 BRX with Merc 250 proXS...no dealers up here so had to drive to Bucyrus to get it. Previous boat was a 78 Hydrostream Varmint. Still dialing in the Checkmate, but love it!

We’re on Lake LeAnn, about 20 minutes south of Jackson, MI.
