Default Persuder 234 vs Maxum 229

Hi, I've been a member for a while, but have never posted before. I sold my 1989 Enforcer- Maxxum 229 last fall, and I'm thinking about getting a Persuader 234 because I need the bow rider for the kids. How does the rough water ride compare to the Maxxum 229? I need something that will handle the rough stuff. Is the ZT 230 Better? Looking forward to hear what you guys have to say, thanks!

Anyone out there have a persuader 234 that can share some thoughts?

I use to know all this off the top of my head, but have forgotten a lot of it. I think the Maxxum 229 and the Persuader 234 are the same hull with different deck. The Persuader 234 was an updated version. I’ve never seen a Maxxum 229 in person before, but am familiar with Persuaders. Compared to a ZT2 30 (which I have owned a couple) it is a really big difference. The ZT 230 has a much wider beam 102” vs the 94” beam of the Persuader 234. So, much more room in the ZT 230, much more, and a little heavier. Both will handle rough water well, the ZT 230 probably a little better. In my opinion the Persuaders are better for watersports because they don’t list (lean) as much, the ZT 230 really narrows down at the bottom. The Persuaders are faster and more responsive. I currently have a ZT 218 (which is the same as a 218 Persuader) and it is 5-6mph faster with less power than the ZT 230 I had.

All and all though, the ZT230 is a better boat…..updated styling, more room, more base options, and will likely have a much more efficient mercuiser in it. In a Persuader, it is tight and you will have a hard time finding floor space to even set a cooler, but they are a cool looking hot rod boat.

Thanks for the info Craig, I appreciate it. From what I can see the hull is diferent on the persuader than my Maxxum. The lifting stakes are different and the bow portion seems to have a deeper and more forward entry. My boat weighed 3200 lbs with the 454 Mag in it, not sure what the Persuader weighs. The ZT from what I read is 2900 with the small bock, so about the same with a big block. There isn't a lot of room in the Maxxum or persuader. I wish they made a 251 GTX MCOB! I'm trying to figure how I upload pictures to this post???
