Any local boat dealer or boat parts house that sells merc parts. They used Merc parts in all kinds of boats. You need to have the engine numbers with you

Thanks for the reply . Kind of a dumb question , but there are not any locals that do Mercruiser . Found a place in the Houston metro area called Palmer power they seemed reasonable on price and very knowledgable . Got a new one ordered . Please bear with me as i become familiar with the forums .

good thing you caught it before it filled the engine with too much fuel. i just had to replace mine on my 454....its driven off the sea water pump which is belt driven so luckily i was only leaking it into the bottom of the boat instead of the engine. good luck hope yours wasn't $185...stupid boat parts lol

Well , It did drain The oil and it had about 12 quarts of oil/gas mix in it . The motor would die when it warmed up due to the fuel evaporating out of the oil and chocking the air to the carb off with fumes through the PCV valves . I found this by accident . After i drained it i left the drain plug, filter , and both filler caps and the pcv valves out and metered air from my compressor through the motor to try and help dry the gas out . I then filled it with fresh 40w and a new filter . Pump should be here within a couple of days and i'll change it . Hope this gets it back up to par and the bearings are not hurt .

Just to add closier to this part of my project . i got the pump yesterday evening and replaced it today . It was a Mallory marine with a 12 month manufacturers warranty . It really seemed to be a nice piece . After removing the old one , swapping and teflon tapping the fittings , I replaced it with the new one ( not an easy task ) and put it on the cups . Oil pressure was 30 at idle and jumped to 40-45 almost the second it was revved . This is the best i have ever seen and made me feel alot better about the condition of the motor . I now have a growl that comes and goes and can be silenced by touching the trim . Also have a drip on the crossover , but haven't gotten in there to check to see if its loose or not . Motor is running great though .
