Boat of the Month Rules
How the contest works
Each month, a contest is held to find a picture to grace the entrance page of our website. The contest has three distinct parts to it.
- Nomination Portion
- Nomination Elimination Poll
- Official Contest Poll
Nomination Portion
At the beginning of each month, a thread is posted in our Play to Win forum. Members are invited to nominate a picture of another member's boat, or they can also enter their own picture by posting it in our Boat of the Month nomination thread. Once a total of ten pictures are nominated, or towards the middle of the respective month, (which ever comes first) a poll is started and members are asked to vote on their favourite two of the group. The top two pictures as voted by the community then proceed into our official Boat of the Month poll.
Rules & Guidelines
- Any member may enter a picture of their boat or a picture which is Checkmate related.
- Any member may also nominate another member's picture. If a member wishes to decline a nomination they can do so by posting in the nomination thread.
- Members are asked to nominate a maxium of one picture, per month, per community member. We also ask that members do not nominate additional pictures for members who currently have a picture "heldover" from the previous months contest.
- Pictures that are entered in the contest must be free from copyright restrictions. So please do not enter professionally taken pictures from third parties without permission. Proof of permission must be be provided to us directly by the rightful copyright owner prior to commencement of the elimination poll.
Nomination Poll
Once the middle of the month arrives, or when ten pictures have been nominated, (whichever comes first) a poll is started to find the top two pictures. The top two pictures are determined by the community members who vote for their favourite top two selections. The nomination poll is run for approximately seven days at which time the top two poll selections move on to our official Boat of the Month poll.
