My little Project

I'm finally starting to make progress on my project as I keep having to wait for parts. Now that I think I have everything to put it back together I should have the boat wet the weekend of the 21st. I'm building my version of an HP 500 with a blower attached to it. :)

I pulled my stock 502 looking like this.

And as it sits today.

I ran into a few issues with my headers. Turns out I do not have a stock bravo exhaust exit. So I'm in the process of raising raising and cutting down the lengh of the headers now.

I've still have a lot of work to do and I wish I would have taken picture of how dirty the bilge was before I spent 4 hours cleaning it. It was alarming to see how many lose bolts there were on the motor and how some were just missing.

I'm really excited to get it together and on the water. The best the boat went last season was 64.0 on GPS and I think realistically I'll be in the 76-78 MPH range this season. Next year I'm shooting for 80+.

Does your 253 have the notched transom?

It does not, should be interesting. When I went to pull the motor I found out the timing was only at 29 degrees and the plugs that were in the boat were two steps colder than they should have been. There may have been a bit more speed in the boat had I knew those things last season.

I thought your speeds sounded a little low. Should have been a solid 65 at least. Oh well, you will run like a raped ape now!

Looks really exceptional linn you do nice work.
So whats your estimate on HP and RPMs. Probably going to have to move
the hatch motor too. Those things always seem to get in the way when
adding cool stuff to the top of the engine.

This season, I'm going to prop limit the RPMs to 4800-4900 and run ~5 pounds of boost. I'm thinking it's going to be in the 600-650 HP range. My speed this season will be a good indicator of HP.

The hatch motor is a little offset, it's going to be close.

Finished all the MSD wiring, fuel system is in and wired, relocated the oil filter, powder coated the custom bracket. Finished and powder coated the intercooler bracket only to find out the intercooler bleeds off pressure and I need to order a new one.

Still on my to do list:
Rewire Mercathod
Strip and powder coat headers (Still waiting on John Moore to finish the second)
Powder coat both intercooler pipes
Pickup 3 inch coupler
Change/Add fluids
Mount and plum catch can
Install wide band and boost gauge
relocate hatch actuator
Run intercooler exit lines
Install outdrive

I feel like it's a never ending list.

Its funny, you are doing almost the exact same build that I am working on. I'm not sure what head unit you are running, but mine is a M1SC, and my kit came with the bigger AW 504 intercooler, so I have to mount it to the floor beside the engine, so I will have a little more plumbing to do. But its going to be basically a hp500 motor with that on it. I'll be curious to see how yours runs. Mine has the notched transom, so I'm not sure how much difference that will make, but I guess we will find out!! Nice build man!!!

Also, how much clearance do you have to your back seat with the procharger on there? I bought a serpentine set up off of a 502mpi hoping that it will save me some room over my v-belt setup.

I'll get some pictures for you of the clearance but, I was able to install the motor with my M1 attached to the bracket and all the belts installed.

I have a smaller AW 324 intercooler but, I'm mounting it to the backseat and also running more pipe. I'm hoping for 76-78 this season.

I feel like everything I do on the boat is custom and is taking 4 times longer than it would working on my Camaro.
