This morning I was admiring my new Pulsare 2400 Bowrider, the hull bottom perked my curiousity. First, it's not a straight 22 degree V bottom. The keel is a 9" wide pad with a slight V that is much shallower than the rest of the 22 degree bottom. The pad is raised by 1/2" and runs from the transom towards the bow at least 8-10' (I wasn't crawling under the boat to take a measurement..yet) The first set of lifting strakes (up from the keel) have a slight negative concave turndown (which aids in holding an edge through a turn) while the second set of strakes are flat and level..I'm looking forward to my first run this sunday!

Keep us posted you Verado guys they sound like an interesting power option for this hull.

redrum, Do you notice any porpoise issues with 19" of setback on you 24LD? I'm thinking about going with an Atlass Heavy Duty 14" setback hyd. jackplate with a Verado 300 Pro (635lbs inc steering)..

It may sound unlikely, however I feel a 19" setback with a 505lb 300 is still a relatively conservative set up for this boat. It doesn't porpoise at all, and is easy but fun to drive. The prop also seems to like the less turbulent water it sees out that far. Portaproducts.com offer a heavy duty option that is also interesting. Unlike some lifts that disengage as they go up, its nature allows it to be just as strong in the up position. Similar to a Detwiler design. Hope that helps with your calculations!

Ok guys..time for some brain storming! I now have hayabusa's 2012 Verado Pro 300 with the smaller (and faster) bass lower unit. The Checkmate advertised weight difference between a Bowrider and BRX is 200 lbs in advantage of the Bowrider. The few guys that have run the Verado 300 Pro on their BRX all seemed to be in the 71-72 mph range. I'm not sure what the top speed of a longdeck with a Verado Pro 300 is..With that being said, my goal is to maximize the setup on my Pulsare 2400 with the Verado 300 Pro. If I can hit a true 75mph gps speed light on fuel with myself in the boat I would be happy. The real trick will be figuring how much setback to use and what prop to run. My advantages are the 200lb weight savings over the BRX, cleaner air flow due to the full windshield and smaller bowrider section and the faster 4.8" gearcase vs the 5.44" gearcase. I don't think the Sportmaster gearcase would be part of the equation because I won't be exceeding 80mph...

I was told by an experienced Merc tech (who also races boats) that the 4.8 Verado case doesn't blow out until close to 90, so don't back off the throttle if you see the speedo climbing above 75!! Sounds like a sweet setup otherwise ... I'll be watching this thread to see how it does.

Did a turkey day morning run and recorded my highest top end speed in my Pulsare 2400 Bowrider/Verado 300 Pro! 70.9mph!! Not too shabby for a family sled!! It was 82 degrees and flat water!!
