does any one have a book that would show how and what cable goes where on the motor

Clymer is a great brand to get books on old motors you can go to their website and order any book needed for the older outboards ( how to books ) like the Chilton brand is popular for cars..

Ive had a few control boxes apart and Ive never seen any timing marks . There are two cables one for the throttle and one for the shifter. If the cables are still connected to the control box straighten them out and move the warm up lever (thats the little lever on the back side) . Look at what cable moves that would be the Throttle cable then the other would be the shift cable .
