Descent Marina in Detroit to Launch for the day

Looks like Saturday is going to be nice enough to get the family out on the water. My buddy used to keep his 34' Cruiser's at Kean's, but he said they don't have a ramp (only a forklift).

Anyone know of a good marina in downtown Detroit that has gated parking and a ramp?

Also, any favorite sites to see down there / places to eat? We were going to run down to the bridge and then maybe up to hit a little of the south west side of LSC.

I'm a newbie to that area so any help is appreciated. If anyone is going to be out there, PM me and we can hook up. I'll be in family mode, but we can tie up for a few beers or something.

Thanks!

I still havnt brought my boat back from OH yet or I'ed meet you out there.[/QUOTE]

don't know of anything in downtown for launches but id launch at metro if i were you. nice ramps, parking. go check out jacks at the nine mile tower for lunch. they just re did the place and its really nice in there. i might be out there sat as well depending on how everything goes weather wise. pm me for my number if you want

That would be the easiest,The Metro park at the end 16 mile rd.Theres Jacks along the nautical mile.(I'm not to sure of that area from the waterside of things).
But a good destiation for lunch would be Sinbands its the only place thats "in the city" right at north end of the river next to the roostertail across from bell isle. Its were they race the hydros.Good docking thats well off the river too.

Its suppose to be 70 & sun on sat, let us know what time and where u start I might be able to steal a few gallons of gas and head out!

I am not likely to be out there on Saturday--gotta stain the deck. Let me know how the food is at Jack's. It's under new owners since Chef Ramsey went in there and kicked a$$. Mixed messages from what I have heard. You can always turn right just past Jacks at the gas docks and follow that around to Beach Grill.

Sorry for the delay in responding guys.

So we're going to launch at the DNR site in selfridge. My buddy with a (nice)19' searay is a new boater and we heard that selfridge will be less crowded. We should be in the water before 1pm. Probably will head up through anchor bay - maybe up the north channel.

Enchanter - which boat will you be in - what color?

I'll be in the stingray - white 23' with blue stripes on it. My buddy's boat is dark blue.

I'll shoot out a PM to you guys with my #.

Matt - too bad you (STILL!?) don't have your boat, I have that nice starliner sitting under a cover you could have used!
