mercury prop vent plugs

Vent plugs:

The smaller the vent hole, the less exhaust over the back of the blade on take-off. You can 'tune' your prop slip at launch by changing the size of the vent holes.

mine are wide open, how do you know which plugs to try,or should i just leave them open. it has a good hole shot, but when you are easily taking off it has a small vibration before it planes out. does this have anything to do with the plugs?

There are two ways to do it. Buy an arsenal of the different sizes and cus trying to pry them out while hanging off the back of the boat, or you can buy the no hloe ones and take a cordless drill and a couple bits. Start with all holes plugged then drill the plugs trying it each time till you get it the way you like it. Good luck and have fun!
