Tri-mate 2 over haul.

where can one obtain mercury decals? I need to re-paint my cowling on my 2.4 BP but would really like to retain the original merc stickers that say "2.4 BP EFI" in those cool merc colors. any thoughts?

You can still buy some of the decals from merc. But stand by for sticker shock. They are very proud of them. As for a decal shop. Ahhh I am in the middle of nowhere. Now of any place online that carries some checkerboard decals that I can ge tin yellow?

I dont know of anything on line but you may be able to work over the phone. Heres the number for my favorite, he does awsome work and you can put them on yourself with no problem.

Had a nice little flipping party last night. We even managed to not scratch the paint. I did have to readjust the bunks and center roller. Had to compensate for the pad.

Now its time to start sanding the top and building seat mounts. Got the new hot foot slide mount in the mail today. Have to build a mount for that. Mocked up the new and improved shorter windshield. Very nice. Still have to make some adjustments but nothing major.

AH the dreaded flip. Really no trouble at all. Get a hold of about 15 old tires and some carpet pad. I rested the boat upside down on the old tires. Made a line of old tires and covered them with the carpet pad. I made another line of tires where the center of the hull will rest on the floor. Take the first line of tires and tuck them under the edge of the hull. Buy 2 cases of your favorite beer. Call in the favors of at least 6 friends. Pick up on one side with a guy staged on the other side so the boat will not tip all the way over. Once the boat is vertical switch sides. Lower the boat down on the tires you placed in the center. I then lined up the trailer and used the wench to crank the boat on the trailer. Then sit back, drink beer and tell boating lies.

Starting building the seat boxes. Got the drivers side mocked up and decided to see if the seats I bought a year ago would fit. Also just had to see how the windshield look when I was not standing on my head.

Well had some fun today. Mounted the new hyd jack plate to the merc. That was a good time. The plate is made for the newer style motor mount configuration. The mid I have is old school 1978. After some minor adjustments with a carbide all is well.
Then I figured I would drill the new holes in the transom for the new plate. I had already filled and sealed the holes from the first plate, that one had the old style pattern.
Made a template of the mounting holes. Measure more times than I care to admit. Centered with the back of the boat. Centered with the pad. Correct height, level and looking good. Drilled the 1/2 holes and stepped back to look at the handy work. All would be right in the world of checkmate if I was going to mount the hyd jack upside down. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH sh@#@#@t. Its a good thing I can fill holes. Turned the template around and repeated the measuring process. Drilled 4 more holes and filled 4 more holes. I remember someone telling me this would be a relaxing project. Take my mind of work,,,yea right. Oh the joy I am having.
