Where to buy Checkmate fuel filler

So last Summer on our main vacation with the boat, I stop to fill the boat with fuel just before we arrive at the lake.

It's full service, I open the filler and the female attendant rams the fuel nozzle into the neck and knocks/breaks the metal filler cap off it's chain and onto the ground under the boat. She laughs, :irked: I shoot her a look and go under there to get it. After paying for the fuel I pull the trailer over to the side of the station, get out the tools and reattach the chain and put the now scratched/marked up fuel cap back in it's place.

Well after enjoying the boat for 3-4 days it's time to fill up again, at the marina I remove the fuel cap and get her filled, when I go to close her up I find out the fuel cap has gone for a swim. :pissed: It's 60-80 feet deep there so I'm stuck. I get the trailer and load the boat up, stuff a rag in the filler and go into town to see if I can buy something to keep using the boat. None of the shops have the right cap and I buy a complete filler but can only get an angled one. Pulsares are set up for a straight one, but we manage to make it work and do fine for the rest of the season.

I want to get it fixed up right. So I have looked everywhere online for the exact match to what Checkmate installed on the boat in 2008, but I can't find it in SeaDog, Attwood or Perkos product lines.

I don't have a picture of it, but it was a metal cap. I think it must have been Chrome over brass or S.S. It had a little half circle tab that flipped up to make a handle to unscrew the cap. The filler nozzle part was plastic with 1.5" filler and 3/4" built in vent.

I've about given up at this point, I may call Checkmate, seems crazy to have to do that for a fuel filler.

Attwood has a newer style flip open vented and pressure relieving cap in either black or chrome. If I'm stumped, I'll likely get it instead. I just need to find a distributor that carries it or I probably have to order it.

link to the new Attwood one incase anyone is wondering

That's it.

This is Awesome, I just called Gem and ordered two.

They did in fact build these. But they are no longer making them or any fuel fillers and caps since the EPA regulations changed on fuel systems.

There is one issue, they have the part # and picture mixed up on their web page in their clearance section. The link is to part #99622-2 and that is a "waste" fill rather then the fuel one the picture is for the fuel but not the part #. The Fuel one is part # 99820-2.

They said they have about 60 fuel fillers left and once their gone thats it.

Now if only I could double "like" and "thank" that last post with the link.

Glad it worked out and thanks for the info! If they're not making any more I'll think I'll go ahead and buy a couple spares myself. What happened to you could happen to anyone!
