CHESAPEAKE MATES CHAPTER GATHERING

My DUMB azz buddy along with his DUMB azz buddy went from the bay threw the canal all the way to the cape on JETSKIS. Took them like 12 hrs and got fined for the canal and running at night. DUMB AZZES lol

So if they can do it on skis I might just boat the whole way up if its in that area. I do like the OC idea for the fun and games. I'm up for what ever!
 
 
My wife wants to go down to assateague island. I would like to to, had someone ask on oso if we could do it a little farther north. Jersey shore has games, carts rides. Same thing as o.c. but I think water ways down there are a little nicer. We will see. Let me see what he replies with. Once we kind of figure it out i will post on s&f also.
 
well i am thinking it is going to be in ocean city md. i have been looking at jersey vs md and md is the better of the two. we will have to come up with a date. i think we will make it a week vacation out of it.
 
I'm in for whenever/where ever. If it is decided to make it in Jersey, let me know and I can help out with the planning. If you wanted to do LBI, I'm pretty much a local there. (my parents have a house there and I spent every summer there since I was born) I could help with lodging and a marina, as I know a few people that own hotels/motels and marinas along with local mechanics, should anyone have issues.

I'm in for LBI area, I can also help out with planning this is where I grew up and still live. Barnegat Bay offers a lot of mileage to run. Plus there are a fair amount of mates in the area. I think we could get a great turnout.

im guessing we will have to vote where to have it. both places are great boating areas. im trying to be fair about it. im willing to travel farther down to ocean city or go to lbi. doesn't matter to me. would just like to have a good turn out. the help with the location would be great as im not to familiar with both areas. been to lbi twice. thats about it. hoping to find a nice spot with maybe a sandy area or small island or something for a little hang out time plus some resturants that is accessible by boat. i know lbi has a great marina that is live aboard for the guys wanting to stay on their boats for a day or two.
 
Having brain fart! What is lbi?

I goggled it and came up with Long Beach Island NJ. Is that coorect

lbi from bridge port is 3 1/2 hours. lbi from baltimore is 3 hours 10 mins. that would be close to in the middle. within and hour boat ride to the north is seaside park and to the south is atlantic city, plus lbi has one of the nicest beaches in jersey. if we did it in ocean city the guys from ct would have to travel 5 to 7 hours depending on which way they go and traffic so you could probably figure they wont come. just trying to pick a place that will work for everyone.

I'm flexible in regards to location, since I'm in the middle. North or south works, however, I would rather head south to the Chesapeake area.

If it is decided LBI (Long Beach Island, NJ) is the place, I know of a lot of cool little beaches to pull up on, along with a few restaurants accessible by boat. LBI is very different from one end to the other. The North end has the Light House and is still a fairly quiet area (compared to most of the NJ shore) The South end has Fantasy Island (an amusement park) and lots of stores.

Atlantic City is about a 45 min car ride from LBI. Seaside Park, if the ocean is calm, is about 25 min boat ride north of Barnegat Light Inlet.

I have an idea to help everyone decide on where it should be. Set it up like boat of the month. Someone local to the area submits a set of five pictures and brief description for everyone to vote on and you can’t vote for your own area. Just a thought…?
 
im in for voting for a place. so far they are the two suggestions. the only thing is i have same thing posted on offshore only also. some of them guys are not members here. can we set a poll up on here, if not we can just put where you would like to have it and we will count it up that way. it doesn't even matter to me if you vote on your own area. what ever area wins is it. then we will set a date and some things to do.

it would probably be better to post them in the poll thread to draw more attention to it, after all, the votes there will determine the destination. I will post a few over on that thread.
 
Upper Chesapeake is convenient to I-95 and other roads and has tons of places to eat and raft up.

Also, it's not prone to the dreaded shore/beach traffic.
