    Ski Locker Drain

Checkmate notoriously carpeted over that drain hole in the ski lockers. I've had quite a few with that issue. -Craig

    Handling issues/rumors on some checkmates?

I meant latest Convincor 260....ZT260s are not made anymore....too bad, cuz they were a good boat.

    Handling issues/rumors on some checkmates?

They lean in turns due to how narrow they are at the bottom. Check your Convincor, it's probably only 6.5' wide at transom lower corners. They porpoise some at lower speeds because of where the center of gravity is, you counter it with trim and throttle....these things are the trade off for...

Bought 23" Checkmate..... and it needs a new engine :(

That price would have to be for a bobtail ready to drop in with all accessories. Long block should be about half that. -Craig

    prop help 2003 ZT230BR

Wondering why your boat would be any lighter? Not seeing how you are getting a 23p to run 67 unless you're talking speedo readings. -Craig

    prop help 2003 ZT230BR

50 sounds about right for speed with that load. I still think your tach is off. For example my current boat is a ZT218BR w/ 350mag 300hp and propped to run 5000 rpms at WOT with just me in boat and runs about 66-67 mph. I add 3 more people and rpms drop to 4600 and 61-62 mph. Now just going off...

    prop help 2003 ZT230BR

Now that you mention it I did run a Rev 4 most of the time on the 230 I had with a 6.2. Bravos are slower out of the hole on small block boats. Try same pitch as any Bravo that works and the Rev 4 will be better all around and a 100 rpms more. Before the Rev 4 came out though Bravos were the...

I think your tach is off. You can't go 55 with a 21p at only 4200. With 300hp I would think you could turn a 22p Bravo1 or 21 mirage plus either one, up around 4800-5000. 57-58 is gonna be your max speed with that boat/engine combo. -Craig

Hope to buy a new or used Pulsare 2400 BRX

Still a crazy price. I've bought a lot of new Checkmates over the years and usually got up to 20% off MSRP and certainly never gave a dealer their asking price. I guess those days are over.

    Newbie looking for help.

Yes, available in BR and CD. They only made them a few years and then they developed the ZT 230. -Craig

    Newbie looking for help.

It should run about 65 maybe 67 with a 454. They run about 58-60 with a 350. -Craig
