    Many thanks for your reply, the 250xs is new for 2003 through high performance dealers only. Maxiumum rmps is about 5800-5900. Mercury intended for it to run 6300 but cut the rev-limiter back and put a 2 year warranty on it. I will take your advice and try the 27" Tempest this week. What of the...

    what top speed does your friend with the 225 Yamaha and 27" Tempest get? Is he running the stock 5.5" setback jackplate? What is his engine height, prop shaft to bottom of the boat?
