Reccommendation on new/used manifolds please

I'm looking to replace my stock Iron Merc. manifolds. I definitly want the sound to change. On my last boat (350 small block Scarab) I bought new Revolution Marine manifolds and did not notice any difference in sound or performance! And that was going from a 3 inch exhaust to 4 inch. I want the deeper sound. My 454 sounds about like that old 350...I hate it! I'm surely not rich but I am selling stuff to come up with some cash I'm seeing some stock Merc.525 manifolds on ebay. What about the Lightning headers. They're a tubular design for around 1700.00. That's more than I could really spend but I may have to wait a little longer for that much. Any opinions on which ones will give me better sound and performance.. Oh yea...my 251 uses the 3 or 4 inch riser spacers.

I am running the Imco Power Flow Exhaust on mine the sound is Ex and loud when you hammer on it.. If your going to hop up your engine later I would go ahead and buy some good exhaust now so you will have it when your ready to hop your engine up. Any free flowing aftermarket exhaust will be better than the MC exhaust. Your biggest gain will be sound without doing anything else to your engine. Imco Exhaust is high mine ran 2750.00

IF ITS NOT FAST ITS GOT TO AT LEAST SOUND GOOD

Any aftermarket exhaust is better then the junk Merc uses. Tubular headers flow better and decrease the chance of reversion more than manifolds. However, with a stock engine, you wont need the increase in flow, so there wont be a noticable power gain. Personally, I prefer headers but if you want to go with manifolds, I would recommend you go for a set that uses a by-pass hose to transfer water from the manifold to the riser. The ones that have water flowing through gasket doesnt make sense to me. If the gasket leaks or the manifold rots at its mating surface ( which they do) say good bye to the engine.

I have some old style cmi exhaust for sale for bravo set-up. Old, not pretty, but were working fine when took off our boat. A couple dif set-ups so If interested shoot me a pm.

HELP ME COLLECT/RAISE SOME CASH FOR MY NEW MANIFOLD PURCHASE!!!HA HA. I've put a bunch of stuff on e-bay today. I have 2 props on ebay. 1 27 pitch Mirage. I think I put a buy it now of around 190.00 or 225.00,I forget. Also I have a Hydromotive Intimadator Q IV 28 pitch. Starting bid is 250.00 buy it now is 290.00. We just had a little snow storm here.....6 inches I think it's headed north east....toward NY...I think I'm going to follow it and shovel a bunch of driveways like I did when I was a kid.
