It's time for our first BOTM contest for 2009!

Here's how this deal works for our newer members.

Each month we have five pics which battle it out in a poll to find out which boat is the boat of the month. The boat that gets the most votes as chosen by our members wins our boat of the month contest, and the winning boat graces our entrance page for a month.

Once the official poll is completed, the top boat is the boat of the month, and the boat that gets the least amount of votes gets eliminated. That leaves three holdover pics at the end of each month. Those three pics carry over to the next month's contest and get to try to win again.

Here is what to do, if you would like to participate.

If you'd like to enter your own boat, please post your best pic. If you'd like to nominate a fellow members boat, you can do so by posting it in this thread as well.

*Other Rules Worth Noting*

- Please do not post multiple pics of your boat! Just post your best single pic! Posting multiple pics of the same boat just lessens your chances of making it into the official poll as it will most likely just split your vote up! Also, if a member's boat is already nominated, please do not nominate another pic of it! Again, this just causes vote splitting!

- Due to the overwhelming response of nomination pics we're receiving- we are now limiting total nomination pics to a total of 10! Meaning, if and when we reach ten nominations within this thread, at that point we will immediately move to the nomination vote portion of the process!

Once we hit the middle of the month, or when we get entries, we'll hold an elimination poll to find the top nominated pic which will then advance to our official Boat of the Month poll. Please note, due to a tie in December 2008's vote, we will only be adding one additional pic this month instead of the usual two pics.

If you need picture posting instructions, please refer to the instruction thread located in the "picture this" forum and also located in the board feedback forum.

Please note, we also have a new option for pic uploading in the form of our "limited access" supporter's subscription which costs just $5 U.S. dollars. So you shouldn't have to struggle posting pics anymore! :)

Details of how to purchase it can be found in the Board Announcements Forum.

Good luck everyone!

Let's see those pics!

I would save the arial shot for another month. if you post two in one month you will split your votes.

Here's my 13 ft Paradise. It's a copy of a 13 ft Checkmate Playmate. It's a bit overpowered with a Mercury Promax 225hp.

The mini-poll is up Gang.

We had a tie in the official BOTM poll last month, so we're just adding one pic, so just vote for one.

The pic that wins this vote will move into the official poll.

Good luck everyone. :)

Yeah that's fine Jayme.

We're just trying to avoid people voting for their own boat and stuffing the ballot box trying to win.

How do you stuff it with one vote? If everyone votes for their own, it kinda equals out does'nt it. How else can I get more than the 1 vote I have. The one vote I have so far feels lonely now!

Hi Randy,

We're asking people not to vote for their own boat, because what has happened in the past is that it doesn't just become a case of each owner voting for their own boat. It becomes a case of SUDDENLY near the end of the vote, we get numerous new signups all from the same IP and computer, which have all mysteriously voted for the same boat. And the explanation is typically the same each time, which is....my wife, my son, my daughter, the dog, my buddy, his buddy all came over and signed up for a new account and voted for my boat. So that's why if you look at the official poll thread, there are a more complete set of rules which stipulate that you're not supposed to vote for your own boat, nor are family members or other people from the same location as the owner supposed to vote for "their" own boat either.

We've already had some off-forum discussions about how to curtail this issue, but none of the solutions are great. So for now I just monitor things as best I can.

Congratulations to ammadon who is moving on to our official BOTM poll for January 2009. :)
