2400 BRX/400R Optimizing

Anyone else out there playin with set back and propping to optimize speed and handling.
What are you running for prop and setback?
What are you running for max speed?

There are a few here who have played with the 2400BRX set up, hopefully they post.
But what I remember is the total set back needs to be 10 - 13 inches. So with the built in ~5" set back of the 400R you need a 6 inch jackplate or bracket. You want a 24--25 pitch five blade prop like the Max 5 and you should see 80+ mph.

6” setback about 1” below the bottom, and a 24 Bravo FS is a great setup imo. 24 Tempest for light load and top speed with same X dim. Also, add the high flow intakes for a bit more punch!!

I’ve gone as far back as 14” set back and got a lot of porpoising when on normal cruising speeds but I did achieve my highest mph, 83 with this set up with a 26 BBlades Blaster. I’ve since gone back to a 6” set back and running now a 24” Bravo.

Hey Jeff it’s been a while, we’ve got to catch up 😎

Are you running the USP high flow pipes? Good stuff?

Hey James, hope you're doing well and the family is staying safe along with you buddy.
So far I’ve installed the cold intake pipe and the midrange punch definitely got some boost, and since the resonator is gone the beautiful music of the SC is now free to sing! So yes, good stuff and upgrade for the money. Im going to finish it out and do the SC side next.

Just did the boost pipe this weekend. I really like the improved low end torque with this mod.

Actually according to Merc Racing, the Verado only has 1.75” of built in setback. If you plan on using a Max 5, the best option would be a 22 pitch. In a 4 blade the Bravo FS in a 24 pitch is my best all around performer, a 23.5 pitch also works well for heavier loads, both standard options from Mercury. For top end a 24 Tempest works well to achieve over 80 mph.
