Thinking this would really be a runner with a 2.5L, thinking maybe a 225x with a Sportmaster lower. Currently running a 225 Optimax 3.0 with 11" of setback. Manual says boat weighs 1325lbs. Does anyone have a similar set up? Boat 1.jpgBoat 2.jpg

Generally speaking the 21’s are happier with big block motors on them. The extra weight does nothing but help keep the bow up and at 1300+ + + lbs you can use all the torque you can get coming out of the water. The 2.5 would be much better suited to a smaller/lighter hull.

+1 for sticking with a 3.0L

Also not to mention that the 2.5s seem to be holding value a lot stronger. Sold a salt water 225PM in late ‘22 for 6500. I think it had like 600hrs and was far from clean; needed a flywheel (splines rusted through) AND a trim unit rebuild after the sale.

You could probably find a 250 opti easily from somebody who upgraded to V8 four stroke. There’s a lot of those stories out there right now

Sounds good, thanks for the input. Thinking about looking for one of those "gold block" 250xs.
