HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

Sadly only put about 2 tanks of fuel through it this year
The 1850’s are ridiculously heavy so that’s part of it, the other piece of the puzzle is a big block 2 stroke or even 4 stroke power would give you a lot more torque to spin bigger wheels pushing all that weight.

This is inspiring. I just picked up 04 Pulsare 1600 br I always overpower but 225hp on 16’ boat? Have you had any issues with the extra weight?
No real issues with weight per se, the newer direct injected 125 hp motors come in around the same weight as my old school carbed 225.
I’m selling the boat come spring and rigging it with a 150 for a family to enjoy using for various activities. I no longer need a bowrider and obviously the boat was never intended for my kind of speeds. Having said that, a setup aimed at high speed handling as the first priority worked quite well, boat handled decent at full whack and could still cruise mid 30’s without much drama.

Agreed this may not be the hull for speeds over 60mph. I’ve decided to make this a more family friendly boat. I found a mint Merc 115 ELPTO. Should be a fun boat!
